We recently posted a downloadable index listing every JCHS Journal article published from 1958 to 2009 which contains nearly 1,000 entries. The Excel file is searchable and is highly indexed.

Funds approved for State Historical Society building
The State Historical Society of Missouri should get a new $35 million headquarters in downtown Columbia, Mo. based on state funding approved by the Missouri General Assembly.
Preliminary plans for the new building are for a 125,000 to 150,000 square feet building including a 100- to 125-seat auditorium. The bill still requires approval by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon.

Two Kansas City buildings are being nominated for the National Register of Historic Places.
Nominated are the The Fairfax Building, 101 W. 11th St., and the Interstate Bakeries Corporation Headquarters Building, 12 E. Armour Blvd.

Missouri bicentennial focus group plans Kansas City session
The State Historical Society of Missouri is spearheading plans for commemorating the 200th anniversary of Missouri's statehood in 2021 and looking for ideas.
To that end, a Bicentennial Focus Group will be held in Kansas City area on Thurs, April 9th from 2-4 pm at the Midwest Genealogy Center located at 3440 S. Lee's Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055.

Death on Pleasant Street: A Tale of Murder and Intrigue
The Swope Mansion murders remain one of the most intriguing local history tales in the Kansas City region.

Local author publishes new book about KC Cowtown

Lee's Summit historic group raises funds for museum
The Lee’s Summit Historical Society plans to open its museum early next year in a refurbished 1939 post office.
The downtown post office is undergoing renovation, with money from a bond issue approved by Lee's Summit voters.
