Volunteer with JCHS!
Do you have a few hours a week to give back to your community?
If you like to visit with people, helping as a tour guide or hospitality docent may be a perfect fit at our 1859 Jail Museum. Or if serving "behind the scenes" is more appealing, consider contributing your time in our archives working hands on with collections. If your interests vary, you could join the ranks of our volunteers who lend their talents in more than one way. Shifts are available during the week or the weekend, depending on the position.
As a Jackson County Historical Society volunteer, you will receive invitations to special events and a discount on museum store purchases.
All work is unpaid, but we offer the benefits of new skills, friendships, and the satisfaction of knowing you've helped advance historical knowledge. Plus, you have the opportunity to work in some of Independence's historical landmarks and become an expert on local history.
