Jackson County Historical Society Announces New Board of Directors for 2021

JCHS NEW BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT

March 1, 2021

The Jackson County Historical Society recently elected new officers, and also welcomed four new members of its Board of Directors.

The 2021 JCHS Board officers include Brian Burnes, President; Stephanie Rohr, President Elect; Mark Eubank, Treasurer; Irene Baltrusaitis, Secretary; Shirley Wurth, Vice President of Events, and David Ross, Vice President of Fundraising.

Our newly elected directors are Mark Carrick, Matthew Baird, Christie A. Geier-Pratt, and Matt Mallinson. Returning directors include Karla Deel, Ralph Monaco II, James McGee, Brian Schultz and Shane Seley.

New or continuing projects for 2021 will include the Society’s E-Journal, a “Rhythm and History” series of programs broadcast over KOJH, 104.7 FM, located at the Mutual Musicians Foundation in the 18th and Vine District, and the anticipated launch of the Society’s Digital History Database.

The database will allow virtual visitors to browse and order digital files of many of the thousands of archival photographs held in the Society’s archives. Those will include images from the Strauss Peyton Collection, which holds many portraits of Kansas City individuals and families – as well as some celebrated visitors to Kansas City – made throughout much of the 20th century by the Kansas City photography studio.

For further information about these projects and other pending programs, please visit the Society’s website at jchs.org.
