JCHS Hires New Executive Director
The Jackson County Historical Society is pleased to welcome Chris Stout as its new executive director.
In recent years Chris has emerged as a dynamic young leader in the Kansas City area nonprofit community.
As a founder of the Veterans Community Project, he and colleagues made national news with their “Tiny Houses” initiative at 89th Street and Troost Avenue. The “VCP Village” provides unique and innovative temporary housing solutions for Kansas City area homeless veterans.
Because of this work, Chris was named one of CNN’s Top 10 Heroes of 2018.
More recently Chris served as director of programs for Hope Faith, a Kansas City daytime homeless assistance campus providing resources and a safe space for Kansas City residents in need.
A veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, Chris is a former U.S. Army corporal who served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, and also helped his fellow former service members as veteran navigator for the United Way of Greater Kansas City.
In all of these positions Chris has demonstrated great skill in building relationships with local government officials and leaders of area organizations.
Please join us in welcoming Chris to the Jackson County Historical Society where he will now play a pivotal role in promoting Jackson County history alongside our Society staff members, board members, donors and volunteers.
