This event is presented by the Jackson County Historical Society and in partnership with the City of Independence Historic Preservation Department. Learn about one of the most mysterious women of the 1859 Jail Museum which is located on the historic Independence Square. Mary Bugler was a normal Independence woman who unexpectedly took over as a jailor after the murder of her husband. Visitors will also get to tour the 1859 Jail and learn about the historic preservation process to preserve the history of the building.
Parking is available across the street in a free parking lot and along the street.
