JCHS Annual Dinner & Awards
Jackson County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting/dinner on Thurs., Jan. 28 at the Adams Mark Hotel located at 9103 E. 39th St., Kansas City, Mo.
Tickets are $75 per person or $750 for a table of eight. Tickets can be ordered online or contacting the JCHS offices. The event starts with a 6 pm reception with a plated dinner at 7 pm.
The event features annual awards JCHS gives to recognize significant contribution to local history and support for JCHS. This year's award winners are:
Historic Preservation Award:
Linwood Area Ministries Place (LAMP)
Bringing History to Life
Niel Johnson for his extensive portrayal of president Harry Truman
Jazz and History
Chuck Haddix for bringing music, especially jazz, to life with radio and print
Honoring the Past
Ray Moore for preserving the Hedrick Cemetery in Independence
