Live Action Oregon Trail

  • National Frontier Trails Museum 318 West Pacific Avenue Independence, MO, 64050 United States (map)

Will you survive the trail? Or die of dysentery? Test your luck at the Live Action Oregon Trail game! Back again for the 2nd year in a row! This year the Jackson County Historical Society is partnering with the National Frontier Trails Museum to bring you Live Action Oregon Trail!

Teams of 4 will see if they have what it takes to survive the Oregon Trail! There will 10 stops along the way with games, trivia, and relay races. Teams will pack their wagon, "hunt" wild game, and much more! Each team has the chance to win points at each stop. The team with the most overall points wins Live Action Oregon Trail! We will also have a prize for the best dressed team. We will have fabulous prizes for our winners.

It is $30 to register a team of 4 (NOT $30 per person!) So just register for one ticket, when you check out, you will be prompted for a team name. Children are welcome, but they must have at least one adult on their team. We recommend ages 8 and up.

You can also purchase a Live Action Oregon Trail T-shirt for $15 in advance.

Objective: To reach Oregon after successfully meeting all the challenges marked on your map. The location of each challenge is marked with a star on your map. You will earn points on your travels.
Points: At each of the challenges, you will get a sticker showing that you have finished that challenge. These stickers will be coded for points, but only the judges know what the sticker values are. They will not divulge this information. Even with bribery! The judge will place your sticker next to the challenge on your map. *Judge’s decisions are final.
Trail Trivia: There are 10 signs scattered around the park with information about the Oregon Trail. Teams will need to collect this information to pass your Trail Exam. *No using phones! Do you think pioneers had cell phones?!
There is no set route for the Live Action Oregon Trail; feel free to complete challenges in any order.
Ending: Once you have completed all the challenges on your map, please bring to the check-in table for a chance to win fabulous prizes. Winners will be notified the first week of May.
