Spend a day in historic Independence learning, experiencing and enjoying the life of Missouri artist George Caleb Bingham.
The day includes a special screening of the new documentary The American Artist: The Life & Times of George Caleb Binghamby Emmy-winning Kansas City filmmakers Wide Awake Films. The screening will include a chance to meet and engage the filmmakers.

A personal tour of the Jackson County Art Galley which includes several Bingham portraits and prints collected by Ken McClain. The tour will be led by Joan Stack, art curator and Bingham expert with the State Historical Society of Missouri.
A reception at the Bingham-Waggoner Estate and a performance by the Mengel Brothers Duo whose music is included in the movie. The Independence musicians' CDInspired by Bingham includes original compositions by Dana Mengel based on viewing Bingham paintings.
End the evening with a special dinner at Ophelia's Restaurant or Cafe Verona on the Independence Square.
