Historic Jackson County Truman Courthouse

The Jackson County Truman Courthouse is located on the historic Independence Square.

The courthouse was remodeled and expanded in 1933 during the term of Presiding Judge Harry S Truman.

The building is currently closed to the public pending renovation.

Enjoy the architecture, surrounding grounds, statues of U.S. Presidents Harry S Truman and Andrew Jackson, and various historical monuments that commemorate pioneers, the Civil War, and beginning of the trails that headed west from Independence Square.

Then, too, there are many boutique shops and restaurants, and historic sites (like the 1859 Jail, Marshal’s Home and Museum) around Independence Square! Welcome to Independence.
