Jackson County (Mo.) Historical Society
The
Jackson County (Mo.) Historical Society, a not-for-profit organization located
on the historic courthouse square in Independence, Missouri, celebrated its 50th
Golden Anniversary in 2008. Although the Society has roots dating back to 1909,
formally organized in 1940 and officially incorporation in 1958. Jackson County
has a unique, rich history. We are dedicated to the preservation and understanding
of our heritage and to promoting the study, appreciation, and interpretation of
local and regional history. Membership dues, gifts, donations, and grants
primarily accomplish our operation. Gifts (including membership dues) are
tax deductible. We offer a variety of products, services and programs at sites

Thank you in advance of your support of
or mission!
“Beyond membership,
how can I/we be a part of the Jackson County Historical Society’s worthy and
exciting mission?”
Thank you for
asking!
Join the JCHS 1859 Guild, an enhanced membership level.
Pledge this charitable contribution annually.
Give gift memberships as presents, in lieu of “stuff” nobody really needs.
Encourage family, friends,
acquaintances, business associates, social and country club members, and
organizational colleagues to consider supporting JCHS as a way to “think
globally and help locally.”
Visit our sites, attend our
educational programs, and use our historical collections.
Volunteer
at one of our sites.
Use your sphere of influence (that
is, your varied connections) to leverage corporate or institutional ANNUAL
gifts to JCHS. Increase visibility of the mission, products, programs and
services of JCHS at every opportunity.
Serve on a Board committee, and make
meaningful contributions to the agenda.
Think of creative ways that JCHS
may continue to attract revenue and financial resources, while simultaneously
educating the public about the products, programs and services underlying its
mission.
Last,
but not least, the final act pertinent to each and every one of us . . . .consider a generous gift to
the Jackson County Historical Society in your estate planning. “You can’t take
it with you,” but you can leave a lasting legacy that will greatly benefit this
worthy organization’s mission.
