PHOTOCOPYING & PHOTODUPLICATION GUIDELINES AND FEES (6/06) The Jackson County Historical
Society desires to make its materials as widely available as possible, while
also providing for the proper conservation of its collections. Photocopies of
documents, and duplications of photographic images may be made available for
nominal fees (use fees may also apply). These fees reimburse the Society for
staff time, office, production, preservation and mailing costs. Researchers must identify the
documents or photographs that they desire reproductions. This may require on-site
research into collections; staff may assist with research requests, as
delineated in our personal,
historical research guidelines. The Society recognizes the
growing demand for electronic scans of photographs. It also understands this
service diminishes the Society’s capability for providing for the long-term
preservation of its collections because an archival negative is not produced
when scans are made. When a scan is
requested for a photograph, the patron’s fee will allow for preservation
negatives to be made. Researchers may not individually
photograph, digitize or otherwise reproduce materials in the collection. Photoduplication
of graphic files will be outsourced under the direct supervision of Society
staff. The Society gives no exclusive
rights for use of its materials. Permission is granted for ONE TIME USE ONLY,
whether for private use, publication, display or broadcast. All negatives
remain the property of the Society. The patron assumes all responsibility for
questions of copyright that may arise in the use made of reproduced material
provided by the Society. The Society will make available to the use any
copyright information it has. Unless otherwise specified, proper citation of
materials must credit each reproduction to: Jackson County (Mo.) Historical Society Archives. FEES Remuneration must be received
prior to photocopy or photoduplication work being conducted. All photocopies will
be made by staff or authorized volunteers as time permits. Photocopies for visiting
